The Wolfsonian Museum

The Wolfsonian-FIU (Florida International University) is a remarkable museum that seeks to highlight the power that art has in our world today. Located just a short five minute walk from the Tides South Beach hotel, The Wolfsonian contains a variety of pieces spanning from the 1850s-1950s. At such close proximity to our South Beach hotel, The Wolfsonian is the type of museum experience that you will not want to miss.

The majority of the pieces come from a historical period covering the height of the Industrial Revolution through the end of the Second World War. However, the Wolfsonian is currently running an exhibition "Boxeo y Beisbol: The Cuba-US Sports Exchange" which highlights the connections between the United States and Cuba that existed and grew due to the popularity of boxing and baseball in both countries from 1915-1959. As the remaining Cold War tensions between the two nations finally approach an end, this exhibit seems especially relevant. Other impressive featured exhibits include "Americans All: Race Relations in Depression-Era Murals" and "An Artist on the Eastern Front: Felix Topolski, 1941." As demonstrated by the aforementioned exhibits, this museum has a variety of collections that will appeal to almost all interests. The museum is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturdayfrom 10 AM to 6 PM and on Sunday from 12 Pm to 9 PM. Adult tickets cost $10 except on Sundays from 6-9 PMwhen admission is free. After exploring all of the exhibits that the expansive museum has to offer, you will definitely want to stop by the Wolfosnian Museum Shop where you can purchase gifts and souvenirs that are related to the current exhibits.

When you are finished indulging your intellectual side for the day, return to the Tides South Beach where you can refresh and relax with a cocktail at The Terrace before a night out in exciting South Beach!
